The site will also allow for five outparcels, Academy Sports and Outdoors, and a gas station. Conditions were placed on the property before the rezoning approval last year, including adding additional pedestrian access. Multiple traffic mitigation measures, such as turn lanes and signals, were also listed as requirements.

The construction will coincide and coordinate with the upcoming scheduled improvements to Brawley School Road.

By having Costco in Mooresville and Academy Sports, the overall project is expected to result in about 400 new jobs.

West of I-77/Exit 36, another planned project appears to be on hold. A business called Altitude Trampoline Park is reportedly going into the former hhgregg store building on N.C. 150, but apparently no work has begun.

Altitude was granted a conditional rezoning last August, but has made no move yet to transform the property.

When presented in August, preliminary site plans for the space showed a main trampoline court centered in the middle of the building with two tumble tracks, as well as two dodgeball courts, a basketball court, a foam pit, a zipline and a trapeze area. Four party areas, two private party rooms on the ground floor, and a parent lounge were also in the plans.

Attempts by the Tribune to contact Mike Thomas, franchise owner of the facility, and Altitude Trampoline Park Corporate Headquarters, were unsuccessful.
